POE, a new musical celebrating the life of Edgar Allan Poe, will be giving a reading this month in New York City. Casey Hushion directs a cast, which includes Deven May (2001 Theatre World Award for "Bat Boy: The Musical") as Edgar Allan Poe, Brooke Sunny Moriber as Virginia Poe and 2-time Tony Award nominee Alison Fraser as Maria Clemm.
This musical about one of America’s most influential writers begins as Edgar embarks on his writing career and follows him until his untimely death in 1849. His writings are integral to the story, but the focus is his life and how it inspired his work. With a book by David Kogeas and music and lyrics by David Lenchus, POE is a musical that celebrates the human side of the legendary writer.
Other members of the cast include Andrew Varela as Rufus Griswold, Liz McConahay as Elizabeth Ellet, Darryl Winslow as Billy Burton, Heidi Blickenstaff as Fanny Osgood, and Eddie Pendergraft as Herman.
The cast is rounded out by a fabulous ensemble of Christy Faber, Demond Green, Christy Morton, Sal Sabella, Bill Solo and Stacy Lee Tilton.
